For a poet, the notion that there might be some direct linkage between the word mountain & a /mountain/ is profoundly attractive; it drives much of Wordsworth's poetry as well as Pound's notion of the "ideographic method," which is based on Ernest Fenollosa's mis-translations of Chinese poetry. Don't you love it?
